The article suggests some additional notes to the textological and literary commentary to the famous poem by Alexander Pushkin. Revising the rough drafts of „The Demons“ in Pushkin’s working notebooks, the author proposes to revise their relative and absolute dating in order to liquidate chronological and logical contradictions in the history of the text. Moreover, the author introduces a previously unnoticed source for some descriptions in „The Demons“ — a satirical poem „The Vision on the banks of the Lethe“ (1809) by K. Batyushkov, which both contributes to the Arzamas subtext of „The Demons“ and emphasizes the principles of the late Pushkin’s poetics considering the work with a „foreign word“.
