The essay reconstructs the complicated relations of the members of the Association for Real Art (OBERIU), first of all, Daniil Kharms, with their authorities. The author tells the story of his „dangerous liaisons“ with Lydia Nadejena (Nadezhina), editor of the New York newspaper „Russian Voice“ and translator of L. Panteleev and Viktor Shklovsky into English. Kharms mentioned her during the very first interrogation after his arrest on December 10, 1931 in relation to „The Case of the Children’s Literature Sector of the State Publishing House“. The essay also reconstructs the story of the publication „Obereut“ in „New Russian Word“ another New York newspaper on February 17, 1928.
